Professional Development & Training – Programme Intent
The UOCltd programme of study is designed to equip Foreign-Trained Teachers (FTTs), Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs), and Heads of Department (HODs) with the knowledge, skills, and professional confidence needed to thrive in the UK education system. It aims to raise teaching quality, strengthen leadership capacity, and ensure consistency in pupil outcomes through a structured and sustained approach to professional learning.
Aims
- Accelerate Role Readiness – Support participants to meet and exceed the Teachers’ Standards and relevant leadership competencies.
- Embed Effective Practice – Develop mastery in pedagogy, behaviour management, curriculum planning, and assessment for learning.
- Strengthen Leadership – Equip HODs with the skills to lead high-performing teams and drive department-wide improvement.
- Promote Inclusion and Equity – Build capacity to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL pupils.
- Foster Reflective Practitioners – Encourage habits of ongoing self-reflection, peer learning, and continuous improvement.

The delivery model will consist of monthly CPD sessions that are role-specific and theme-based, combining expert input, collaborative discussion, and practical application. These are complemented by fortnightly coaching and mentoring, alternating between targeted coaching—focused on Q&A, feedback, and actionable next steps—and mentoring that offers professional guidance, problem-solving support, and reflective dialogue, all aligned with the monthly CPD themes.
Weekly email support will provide manageable strategies, resources, and reflective prompts to sustain drive and embed learning between sessions. Where appropriate, shared training themes are delivered across all roles to promote collaboration, while role-specific sessions ensure tailored, relevant development for each participant group.
Structure
- Format: Blended delivery (Virtual and digital learning resources)

By the end of the programme, participants will demonstrate consistent high-quality teaching and leadership practice, showing measurable improvement in pupil progress, engagement, and outcomes. They will have the confidence and capacity to sustain their professional growth beyond the programme and will actively contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the school.
